eZuce ViewmeTM NET+ solution

Offers easy adoption of enterprise-class video conferencing to Internet2 members

ANDOVER, MA – May 5, 2015 – eZuce Inc., a provider of open visual collaboration and unified communications (UC) solutions to enterprises and service providers worldwide, today announced that it has improved its Video Conferencing and Collaboration Solution, now called ViewmeTM (formerly SeeVogh), available to higher education institutions as part of the Internet2 NET+ initiative. The solution is powered by technology that eZuce acquired in its recent acquisition of Evogh, Inc., a software development company co-founded by Philippe Galvez and Harvey Newman at the California Institute of Technology. The SeeVogh Research Network (SRN) currently provides visual collaboration for thousands of researchers on a global basis.

ViewmeTM enables visual collaboration across a variety of education-specific applications and is available to early adopting Internet2 higher education members and affiliated organizations through the NET+ initiative. Faculty, staff and students at subscribing institutions can have unlimited access to the eZuce ViewmeTM video and web collaboration solution to support virtual classrooms, intercampus learning, extended office hours, study groups and many other applications. Pervasive adoption of visual collaboration has been limited across many campuses due to prohibitive licensing and cost structures. The revamped NET+ Viewme™ offering is now available on either a full-campus or simultaneous user basis, making it easier to deploy and ramp up.

“We felt that visual collaboration within higher education needed to be as simple and pervasive as it is within the consumer experience with apps like FaceTime, Skype and Google,” said eZuce Founder and CEO Jerry Stabile. “ViewmeTM builds on eZuce’s strategy of developing a complete and comprehensive suite of unified communications and video conferencing solutions that deliver high-quality, enterprise class collaborative communications capabilities to every user, anywhere, anytime and on any device.”

With NET+ ViewmeTM, Internet2 members can experience enterprise-class features controlled from the institutions’ IT department. “With the proliferation of Internet-based over-the-top applications, universities have, to a certain extent, lost control of the content and services riding on their IT infrastructure,” said Stabile. “Additionally, the cost of traditional enterprise-class video conferencing services has limited the adoption within many universities. eZuce’s ViewmeTM NET+ offering addresses this issue head-on by eliminating costly setup fees, offering free clients and providing every user with their own meeting room. Service pricing is based on active users rather than fixed meeting rooms. The NET+ initiative has enabled the solution to be tailored to higher education’s specific needs.”

Focused on providing secure, agile and reliable user mobility in the cloud to higher education’s diverse users, Internet2 NET+ is a research and education (R&E) community-driven initiative. Through a rigorous peer-driven evaluation process, R&E institutions and cloud service providers work together to develop offerings that maximize deployment efficiencies and minimize the business and legal challenges, financial costs and technology risks of migrating from on-campus to cloud-based solutions.

Jack Suess, vice president for information technology and chief information officer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County is a strong advocate for the NET+ Viewme™solution stating, “UMBC was looking for something that was very easy to use and didn't require administrative setup, that worked with our enterprise H.323 systems, and was inexpensive enough that we could deploy it to all faculty and staff without charging extra for it. Viewme™ is the first product that hits all three of these requirements.”

After meeting rigorous security, accessibility, integration and agreement standards through the Internet2 NET+ service validation process, Viewme™ has been tailored for higher education institutions and is available for additional early adopters. A webinar detailing the process of becoming a Viewme™ early adopter will be held May 28 at 3 p.m. EDT. Click here to see recorded webinar.
